Education as Mission

Each year, we award college scholarships to local students, funded by generous benefactors. Check it out. We’d love to hear from you.

This small church through God’s goodness has awarded over $700,000 to local students in the last 10 years! We believe in you!

We also provide grants for teacher-initiated creative learning projects and classroom materials through the Vine Fund.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS 3/27/2026 (Last Friday in March)

  • Who May Apply:
    All students who have graduated from Northland Pines, Phelps or Three Lakes High Schools, and who will be enrolled in a college, vocational school, or another institution of higher education in the coming fall. Home schooled students also qualify.

    This scholarship usually grants three $2,000 scholarships per year for up to four years.

  • Who may apply:
    Graduating Seniors from the Phelps, Three Lakes and Northland Pines School Districts. Students may plan to attend a 4-year college, technical or vocational school.

    This scholarship consists of a one-time payment of at least $1,000

  • Who may apply:
    Graduating Seniors from the Phelps, Three Lakes and Northland Pines School Districts who are planning a career related to the environment.

    This scholarship consists of a one-time payment of at least $1,000.

  • Who may apply:
    Applicants must be either graduating seniors or graduates from a Vilas County High School, residents of Vilas County, or demonstrate a compelling connection to Vilas County. Recipients must have been accepted by or be enrolled in an accredited public or private college. Recipients must be full-time students, undergraduate or graduate.

    This scholarship usually grants one $20,000 scholarship (payable as $5,000 per year for up to four years) and, if available, at least one additional scholarship of at least $1,000

  • Who may apply:
    Graduating Seniors from the Northland Pines School Districts who are planning a career in Engineering, Mathematics or Science.

    This scholarship consists of a one-time payment of at least $1,000.

  • Who may apply: All members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eagle River, WI who will be enrolled in a college/vocational school or any other institution of higher education in the coming fall.
